Woke up on the floor – hurting Keys in the door – careless I was drinking alone - and flirting How’d I make it back home – mysterious In the mirror melancholy me Awash in whiskey and my misery Oh oh what a dreadful sight Oh oh what’d I do last night Aiming to drown all my sorrows Waking up again – I’m crying I cannot defend – my bearing Burying my head - denying My face is turning red – I’m swearing In the mirror melancholy me Awash in whiskey and my misery Oh oh what a dreadful sight Oh oh what’d I do last night Aiming to drown all my sorrows I’m drowning unknown, unloved, alone in despair In the mirror melancholy me Awash in whiskey and my misery Oh oh what a dreadful sight Oh oh what’d I do last night Oh oh what a dreadful sight Oh oh what’d I do last night

Now you've flipped the disc to trip like this So take one sip of my lyrics assist And gape in the grip of my musical fist As you shake with the shock of my Earthquake kiss Anywhere I roam, that’s where I make my home Anywhere I roam, that’s where I make my home Now things are not always as they seem So whose is the crop and which is the cream And who keeps dancing as they dream To one side A and one side B I King Django never follow as I was born to lead So hang out and hollar until the morning with me Got to do the right to be on the winning team With attention focused like a tight laser beam and Anywhere I roam, that’s where I make my home Anywhere I roam, that’s where I make my home My father’s blessing flows like an eternal spring So I shall not want for he gives everything From my gold Django ring to my T-mobile wing So I praise his name with my ukulele string and I sing to the one true king And pay no mind to what other people says For I King Django never watch no face For the race is not to the swift if you catch my drift Now this music come to give you a lift Don’t need no bourbon, neither no spliff When you climb aboard my musical skiff And catch a whiff of my keyboard riff As I would like to mention in a Version City fashion Anywhere I roam…. For home is where the heart is and heart is where the art is So don’t be no martyr, make a new start and depart for greener pastures Move a little faster and let the music be your master For we are just passing through so don’t you feel blue and don’t bother screw ‘Cause anything you do will come back to you Don’t matter who and I know this is true So mind where you lay up your riches For home is where you can scratch where it itches…

Do you? Do you really love me? Do you? Do you really miss me? Do you? Do you really love me? Do you? Do you really want me? Rolling down the road for days and lonely nights I call you on the phone and something don’t seem right As I’m trying to picture your face in my mind I’m getting the feeling that you aren’t mine Holding back the tears as we say goodbye, I’ve got to find a private place to break down and cry (CHORUS) And have you got the time to talk to me today? And where were you last night when I called you up to say, “There’s people all around but I’m feeling so alone I’m counting the hours ‘til I can come home” I haven’t slept for days, my tears have run dry My pain is written on my face, no more can I hide Do you? Do you really love me? Do you? Do you really miss me? Do you? Do you really need me? Do you? Do you really love me? Holding back the tears as we say goodbye, I’ve got to find a private place, a quiet place to break down and cry

Are these the same streets you used to walk? And is the strange speech we used to talk? Where is the house that we used to live in? How did you deal with the life you were given? And where can I go for the answers? Where is the family we counted in dozens? Your sisters and brothers, my uncles, aunts and cousins? Where is the house that we used to live in? How did you deal with the life you were given? And where can I go for the answers? A dull ache fills the blank spaces Tears come in place of the faces Vague memories of a distant past Your whole world swept away so fast Where is the house that we used to live in? How did you deal with the life you were given? And where can I go for the answers? I said I feel so sad and I feel so blue, I just can’t find my way back to you I know I’ll never find you no matter how I try Though I look for the words I can only seem to cry When I think of your smile and the gleam in your eye And I can’t imagine all the pain you kept inside And still you struggled and still you strived to survive To give me love and give me life Where is the house that we used to live in? How did you deal with the life you were given? And where can I go for the answers?

about

This album of collaborations with a huge cast of my talented friends was assembled from recordings made over many years in many different and far-flung studios, most of it done in chunks with no set agenda. I later assembled and finished it at my home base, Version City. Working on it brought back many wonderful memories of my travels over the years and of the very interesting, kind-hearted, generous and warm characters with whom I have had the privilege of creating these tracks. Many of these fine folks have taken me into their homes, and many of them have spent considerable time here at Version City as well. They are all certainly my friends for life, and we have all been united by our love of music, especially the classic sounds of Jamaica. May our love of good people, good music and words of positivity, upliftment and encouragement reach across to you through these sounds; may you enjoy listening to these tunes as much as we enjoyed creating them especially for you.
